Fresh 48 | Nashville Newborn Photographer
What is a Fresh 48? These are also referred to as “Hospital” sessions. It’s a photo session to document your new family within baby's first 48 hours of life. These can be done with home births and of course, hospital births.
I'm in love with these sweet Fresh 48 sessions because literally everything is so brand new! Your baby was just born a few hours or a day ago, Mom is still recovering and learning her baby and Dad is just in love and fascinated with it all. You're both exhausted and wonderfully overwhelmed.
I spend about an hour with you in your room photographing your new family. I take images of their little toes, hands, and faces. I start with all their hospital gear first, their onesie, hat, and blanket. Then slowly start to unravel that and get their clamped umbilical cord and their identification bracelets. It’s important to note that not all babies are happy having their blankets taken off.
Newborns eat often! I take photos of mama breastfeeding her newborn, but I keep those private for the family unless they're happy to share. I don't recommend skipping these photos though, as they are such an important and giving part of you beginning motherhood. While I don’t recommend skipping them, it is completely the your choice to have it documented or not. No session is complete without portraits of Mom and baby, Dad and baby, siblings and baby, and the "all together now" photos!!
Fresh 48 sessions should be booked at least a couple months before you’re due. While these aren’t birth sessions, I am leaving space in my calendar to accommodate the precious arrival. Let me know when you start labor and then when baby is born. From there we can plan on when your session should start.
